About this experience

What makes this different

Most Phi Phi trips from Krabi are shared speedboat tours with a fixed timetable. This listing charters a whole speedboat for your own party, with a limit of twelve people, and lets you set the order and length of the stops. The GetYourGuide page gives it a rating of 4.8 from 41 reviews and a top-rated label, and one recent guest recommends paying for the private option because the crew was attentive and gave good advice on what to see. The day lasts eight hours, and the price is quoted per group, which makes it competitive for a family or a party of friends.

The timetable on the page is a suggestion, not a fixed schedule. Hotel pickup starts from about 8:00 AM, with check-in at Nopparattara Beach before the boat sets out. From around 9:00 AM the boat reaches Maya Bay, the cove made famous by the film The Beach, where you can take photographs and walk across the island towards Loh Sama Bay. The next stop, from around 10:00 AM, is Loh Samah Bay for snorkelling over a reef known for yellow and blue tropical fish. The route continues to Pileh Lagoon, a quiet green pool between the cliffs, and then to Viking Cave, where a short stop lets you see the walls where swiftlet nests are collected.

After that the boat passes Monkey Bay, a short beach on the southwest of Tonsai Bay where macaques live. The listing says you watch and photograph the monkeys from the boat without landing, which is also better for the animals. The afternoon is spent at Bamboo Island, an uninhabited island about five kilometres off the northern tip of Phi Phi Don, with white sand and a reef that stretches several hundred metres from the shore. Swimming and snorkelling there feels like being in an aquarium, in the listing's words. The boat returns to Ao Nang at about 2:40 PM and then to your hotel.

The price on the listing is US$507 per group of up to 12 people as of October 2026. Remember that several costs are separate. The Phi Phi Island National Park fee is compulsory, 400 baht for adults and 200 baht for children aged three to ten, and the lunch buffet is 280 baht per person. Gratuities for the guide and boat staff and alcoholic drinks are also extra. If you ask for a pickup before 7:00 AM, a surcharge of 500 baht applies, and pickups at Tonsai Bay, the Centara Grand Beach Resort and the areas near the airport, bus terminal and Krabi Old Town are not covered.

Rules at Maya Bay change. The listing notes that the bay is closed for two months each year in the low season, usually in August and September, to let the reef recover, and the timetable can change if weather or sea conditions require it. Visitors walk in from a pier on the other side of the island, and swimming inside the bay is not allowed. If the bay is closed on your date, the guide will suggest other stops, so ask about it when you book.

Speedboats navigate close to the shore, so passengers can step onto the beaches without wading far. Even so, the boat is not wheelchair accessible. The listing says the trip is not suitable for children under three, for pregnant women or for people with back or heart problems. Seas can be rough in the monsoon months, and the speed of the boat is felt over choppy water, so take medication if you are prone to seasickness.

Bring sunglasses, a sun hat, swimwear, a towel, biodegradable sunscreen, breathable clothing, water shoes and cash for the fees. Luggage and large bags are not allowed on the boat, and drones are banned. The dry season, from November to April, is the best time for calm water and clear views, and an early start helps you see Maya Bay before the busiest hours.

Do the arithmetic before comparing offers. A shared speedboat tour to Phi Phi costs a fraction of this charter per person, but you share the boat with dozens of strangers and follow a fixed timetable. At US$507 for a boat of up to twelve, a party of eight pays about US$63 each before the park fee and lunch, and a family of four pays about US$127 each. That makes the charter sensible for a larger group, for a celebration, or for anyone who values choosing the order of the stops. Agree on a plan with the guide at the start, since an extra hour at Bamboo Island means less time elsewhere, and keep a little margin for the weather.

Take care of your own comfort. A speedboat can be fast and bumpy, so sit near the middle of the boat if you feel queasy, and take seasickness medication an hour before departure. Keep valuables in a dry bag, since spray comes over the sides, and wear shoes that grip a wet deck. The sun on open water is strong even under cloud, so reapply sunscreen at each stop and drink water regularly.

This charter differs from the early longtail trip that leaves from Phi Phi Don itself, because it begins on the mainland coast and relies on speed to cover more ground. It suits a party of four to twelve who want the highlights of Phi Phi in a single day without travelling to the islands first. A smaller party may prefer a private longtail from a pier closer to the islands, which is cheaper but slower.
