Phi Phi Overnight with a Private Longtail Boat
A late start from Phuket, a night on Phi Phi Don and three hours by private longtail

What makes this different
Most Phi Phi trips from Phuket are day tours that leave early and come back in the late afternoon, and the listing pitches this one as a way to escape that early-morning rush. It is built differently: a later start, a night on Phi Phi Don and a private longtail boat for three hours, so you see the bays at your own pace and have time left on the island afterwards. GetYourGuide showed US$209 per person in October 2026, and the operator is Tourly Tours.
You are collected from your Phuket hotel and travel by speedboat to Phi Phi Don. After arriving you have time to settle in and see the island before the boat tour. The private longtail has its own local captain, and the route covers Monkey Beach, Viking Cave and Pileh Lagoon, a lagoon of calm emerald water surrounded by limestone cliffs where you can swim and take photographs. You also visit Loh Samah Bay, with chances to snorkel and swim among the marine life, and the listing mentions Maya Bay, with a note that it is closed during the time it refers to. Check with the operator whether the bay is open for landing on your dates.
The Phi Phi islands are a small group of limestone islands in the Andaman Sea between Phuket and Krabi, and Phi Phi Don is the only one with a permanent community. The others, including Phi Phi Leh, are uninhabited and part of a national park. The islands became world-famous when a film was shot at Maya Bay, and the resulting crowds led Thai authorities to close the bay from 2018 so that the coral could recover. It reopened later with strict limits on boats and visitors, and landing rules have changed more than once, which is why the listing's note matters. Viking Cave is known for its ancient paintings of ships and for the collection of swiftlet nests, a valuable ingredient in bird's nest soup.
The price includes snorkelling equipment, life jackets, drinking water and seasonal fruit on board, travel insurance, the speedboat transfers and one night at Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort with breakfast. Other food and drinks, National Park entrance fees, personal expenses and extra activities are not included, so budget for the park fees on the day. The listing asks you to bring a change of clothes. It is not suitable for wheelchair users or for people over 80.
What most day-trip pages do not tell you is how different the islands feel after the boats leave. In the afternoon the beaches empty, and the evening and early morning are quiet, with soft light and calmer sea. That is the real argument for staying overnight. It gives you time for a sunset walk, a simple dinner and a swim before breakfast, and it lets you take the longtail tour at a time when fewer boats are on the water. The village around Tonsai Pier is lively at night, with restaurants and bars, so choose your evening according to your mood.
The seasons matter. The calmest and clearest months are from November to April, when the sea is gentle and the speedboat crossing is comfortable. From May to October the southwest monsoon brings rough water, rain and sometimes cancelled crossings, and visibility underwater falls. Check the forecast, take seasickness medicine if you are sensitive and keep your valuables in a dry bag. Wear reef-safe sunscreen, and do not feed the monkeys at Monkey Beach, since they can be aggressive.
The common mistakes are underestimating the sun, forgetting cash for the park fee and expecting a long island stay from a single night. Pack light, because the luggage is carried by hand on the pier, and keep your passport and cash in a waterproof pouch.
Pack for two days in one bag. Take swimwear, a rash guard, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, a light jacket for the speedboat, a dry bag, sandals and a change of clothes, plus any medicine you need. Cash is useful for the national park fee, snacks and tips to your captain. Keep your passport in the hotel safe, not in your swim bag. Because the island has no cars, the walk from the pier to your resort is on foot or by long-tail boat, so pack light and expect some heat.
Take time for the evening and the morning, which are the strongest part of the stay. Walk the island at sunset, eat a simple dinner in the village and swim before breakfast, when the water is calm and the beaches are empty. If you wake early, the light on the cliffs and the quiet at the pier are a good reason to have chosen the overnight version.
It suits couples, friends and anyone who wants a more flexible and personal way to see Phi Phi. It is a short stay, so it is not a substitute for a beach holiday on the island; if you want more time in the water, add a night.
