What it is

COMO Uma Ubud has 46 luxury suites on Jalan Raya Sanggingan, on the edge of Ubud. The hotel's page says the villas have private, plant-rimmed pools and that guests can start hikes from the front door. It gives no opening year.

Our Bali itinerary places it on a ridge above the Wos River valley. The hotel's own FAQ speaks of the Tjampuhan Valley, the jungle canopy and the Ayung River valley, so the two accounts do not match; check the view you are being offered.

Wellness and dining

Guests have access to the COMO Shambhala facilities, with a pool and fitness centre. The spa is described with a yoga pavilion, steam rooms and Balinese massages. Our itinerary mentions the yoga pavilion for the wellness route.

Kemiri serves traditional Indonesian dishes and contemporary takes on neighbouring cuisines, and Uma Cucina is a street-side restaurant and lounge bar with Italian-inspired food.

Rooms and the rate

Mr & Mrs Smith lists the cheapest double at between US$285.86 and US$310.37 a night, taxes and fees included, for stays in the next 60 days. En Primeur Club gives a wider range of about US$328 to US$675 a night depending on season and room type. Our Bali itinerary prices its Ubud nights at Mandapa, not here; it notes that COMO Uma Ubud had no reliable rate when we built it, and these two sources now give a rough range.

Who it suits

It suits travellers who want a wellness stay close enough to Ubud to walk or take the shuttle, with yoga and a spa in the hotel.

It is a poor fit for anyone who wants to be deep in the rice fields. It is on Jalan Raya Sanggingan at the edge of town, and the airport is about 90 minutes away.

Ask the hotel
  • Which villas overlook the valley, and which face the road?
  • Are the yoga classes and the COMO Shambhala programme included in the rate?
  • How often does the shuttle run into Ubud?
  • Does the quoted rate include breakfast?
  • What are the current rates for our dates, with taxes and service charge?
