What it is

The Oberoi Rajvilas opened in 1997, according to Wikipedia, as the first property in the Oberoi group's Vilas line. A Mint article the page cites marks its 25th anniversary in February 2023, which would put the opening in 1998, so the year is uncertain. It is operated by Oberoi Hotels & Resorts and owned by EIH Limited.

The grounds cover 32 acres of courtyards, gardens and water features on Goner Road. The architecture draws on the 19th-century Naila Fort and on Rajput styles, with pink lime-plaster walls, Mughal arches, turrets, water channels and domed pavilions.

Villas and tents

The hotel has 71 units made up of rooms, villas and luxury tents. The tents are modelled on traditional caravan camps. Our itinerary describes the property as villas and tents in walled gardens, twenty minutes from the city.

The grounds hold an 18th-century Shiva temple and a restored haveli that the page says is 300 years old. A Times of India headline cited on the page calls the temple 300 years old, which contradicts the article, so we do not give an age for the temple.

Rooms and the rate

HotelsCombined showed a premier room at about US$242 a night including fees for a late-July 2026 stay, on a page last updated on 16 July 2026. On the same dates a king room was US$550 and a luxury room US$832. Other sites show other figures for other dates.

Our itinerary prices its Jaipur nights at Samode Haveli, not here, so choosing the Rajvilas would raise the total.

Who it suits

It suits travellers who want a garden hotel with space after days of palaces and bazaars, and do not need to be inside the old city. Two nights fit the Jaipur stop in our itinerary.

It is a poor fit for anyone who wants to walk to the bazaars: the hotel is on the outskirts, and every outing is a drive.

Ask the hotel
  • How many rooms, villas and tents are there, and what is the difference between them?
  • Are the luxury tents open in the month we travel?
  • How long is the drive to the old city, and does the hotel run a shuttle?
  • Are the temple and the haveli open to guests?
  • What are the current rates for our dates, with taxes and service charge?
