What it is

Rayavadee has 94 two-storey pavilions and 7 villas scattered through tropical gardens at the tip of the Phranang Peninsula, on Thailand's Andaman coast. The hotel's page places it within Krabi Marine National Park and gives four dining venues and a full-service spa. It does not give an opening year or the size of the grounds.

Our itinerary describes it as pavilions between three beaches on the Railay headland, reached only by boat. The hotel's page does not mention Railay as its address, only as the departure point for a speedboat trip, so ask the hotel how guests get there.

Closures to check

The hotel's page lists refurbishment dates in 2026: the main swimming pool and the Raitalay Terrace Restaurant are closed from 31 August to 20 October, and the tennis court from 1 September to 31 October. The page we read is current for 2026 only, so ask about the facilities open on your dates, especially if you travel with children.

Rooms and the rate

Published rates are wide. Thai Holiday Guide gives a starting rate of about US$356 a night with no date. Kayak showed a deluxe room at US$400 for a night in late March, a standard room at US$640 and a luxury room at US$697, with no year shown on the snippet we read. Our itinerary does not price the Krabi nights at this resort.

Who it suits

It suits families and couples who want a resort with its own beaches and a choice of dining on a protected peninsula, for four nights of beach time after a city.

It is a poor fit for anyone who wants to be in a town, or who needs the main pool during the late-summer refurbishment.

When to go

For Thailand, the best months are January, February, December. September are hard going. These are typical patterns, not forecasts; each month links to the full guide.

Ask the hotel
  • How do guests reach the resort, and from where does the boat leave?
  • Which facilities, such as the main pool and the terrace restaurant, are open on our dates?
  • Can a family of four be accommodated in one pavilion or in connecting ones?
  • Which beach is closest to the pavilions we are offered?
  • What are the current rates for our dates, with taxes and service charge?
