What it is

The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka stands in the Umeda district, a short walk from Midosuji and about ten minutes on foot from Osaka Station, according to Kayak. The hotel describes itself as Japan's first Ritz-Carlton and says it has welcomed guests for more than a quarter of a century. The rooms and suites occupy the 24th to 37th floors, with views over the city skyline, and Kayak gives the total as 292 rooms.

The hotel presents its interior as inspired by an 18th-century British aristocratic residence, and a doorman in a silk hat greets arriving guests.

Eating and drinking

Osaka is known as the nation's kitchen, and the hotel makes dining a main part of its offer. Of its six restaurants and bars, La Baie serves French cuisine and, according to the hotel, holds one Michelin star in the Michelin Guide Kyoto Osaka 2026. Hanagatami serves kaiseki, sushi, tempura and teppanyaki, Xiang Tao serves Cantonese and other regional Chinese dishes, and Splendido serves breakfast and Italian food.

The Lobby Lounge serves English tea, coffee and desserts with live piano music in the evening, and The Bar lists a total of 460 drinks.

Other things to know

The hotel runs a daily art tour at 5:00 p.m. that includes a drink particular to Osaka. It has a Club Lounge, a children's programme called Ritz Kids, and a grand ballroom that the hotel says can hold up to 1,500 guests, so it is also used for weddings and events.

The hotel says it received the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating in 2026 for the fourth consecutive year and calls itself the only five-star hotel in Osaka in that guide. This is the hotel's own statement and we have not checked it.

Rooms and the rate

On 24 October 2026 Kayak showed rooms from US$285 for one night, 31 October to 1 November, for two guests in one room. It is a snapshot for one night and not a quote, and the rate will differ on other dates and for the room categories above it.

Who it suits

It suits travellers who want a large luxury hotel in the Umeda business and shopping district, close to the main railway station and to restaurants, for a first or last night in Osaka or a base for a few days.

It is a poor fit for anyone looking for a small or historic hotel, or for the old streets of Kyoto: this is a large city hotel in the commercial heart of Osaka.
